Welcome Back Tynes Families

Dear Tynes Families,

I hope this summer letter finds you well.  I am excited for the school year and to have students and our Tynes team back on campus to begin the 2021-2022 school year.  I look forward to getting to know our Tynes students and supporting them as they dream, believe, and achieve this year at Tynes (our theme for this school year).

This summer, I spent time familiarizing myself with Tynes Elementary school.  I have learned that Tynes Elementary is a community where collaboration between home and school occurs.  Teachers develop and implement motivating and challenging curriculum within a safe and nurturing environment.  Students are taught college and career readiness skills: collaboration, communication, technology, and creativity, along with academic subjects so students are prepared to live, thrive, and become productive and successful citizens in a diverse world.  It is evident that the Tynes community has helped build a strong foundation of academic excellence.  I am excited to be the instructional leader of such an amazing school.

This year, we have new teachers joining our Tynes teaching team: Krista Kugler (Preschool SDC teacher) and Ashley Eskew (5th-grade teacher).  In addition, we have new members of our instructional support team that will be such a positive addition to our special day classes.  Together, our Tynes team will continue to support our Tynes Tigers to help them have a positive attitude, act responsibly, be willing to learn, make safe choices, and be respectful (PAWS...Respect) at school and in their daily lives.

As we begin the school year, we will continue to follow the CDHP guidelines for schools.  As more information is received, we will share it with our school community.  An updated Return to School Plan has been developed for the 2021-2022 school year.   The Return to School Plan is posted online in English and Spanish at www.pylusd.org/returntoschool.

I am grateful to be a part of our Tynes community.  I look forward to building a strong relationship with families, so together, we can make Tynes a place where students are noticed, needed, and nurtured.  Please take a few moments to read through the attached communication that includes key dates and important back-to-school reminders. I look forward to an outstanding school year! Enjoy the remaining days of summer.

Thank you,

Tonya Gordillo
